Every animal
mounts an inflammatory response to
implanting. Contaminants such as dirt, hair
or bacteria carried under the skin with the
needle further enhance the inflammatory
response.

As part of
the defense mechanism, neutrophils and
macrophages (white blood cells) race to the
implant site to kill the bacteria.
Fibroblasts migrate to the site and form a
capsule around the implant. The more severe
the challenge and inflammatory response, the
thicker the capsule around the implant and
the greater the number of neutrophils
present.

Thermographic
imaging shows there is more heat in ear A,
implanted without the Tylan pellet, than in
ear B, implanted with Component with Tylan.
